What a fun day! I woke up early, took an 1 long walk along the river. It’s so nice to get out early. I headed out to the train station, and caught the train to Fremantle, which is called Frio over here. It’s a port city on the coast, and about a 40 minute train ride from Perth city center. The train was packed with family’s going to the beach. I arrived to a beautiful city, the port was just so much fun. I went to the markets, which were just so full of wonderful things. I didn’t want to buy anything, because I don’t have much room in my suitcase. Oh well, I know that I’ll be back. I bought a book about Australia at the 2nd hand book shop; gotta have my books. I had a really nice lunch of fish, octopus, and bad coleslaw at a beautiful place along the water with Nick. There are 3 well known places down there, so I know I’ll have to go back to try them all. Spent about 2 hours on the beach, after we found Jess, who was terribly lost. It’s so much windier than you think it’s going to be, but the water was great. The book I bought talks all about the scary things in Australia, so I was starting to get paranoid about standing in the water. Headed home on a backed train, had some delicious low-fat pasta, and fell fast asleep. What a nice day.

December 11
Of course, I woke up at 6, but I managed to sleep until 9. At work by 10 AM. Not the most productive day, but at least I got some studying done. We all headed over to Nick’s house after work. Sausages, honeycomb candy, and the best nap I’ve had in a long time. 2 hours of deep sleep; frankly it was great. We watched Back to the Future, I forgot how great it was. I should be going out and partying now, with the great weather we’re having, but I’m just not up for it. Oh well. Goodnight everybody, and Happy Birthday to Trygve! Try to keep your head on your 21st.
December 10
Yeah, Friday! Christmas party day, and I have to say that I did actually work pretty hard. Thank goodness. We left work a bit early, so we could go home and get all gussied up. I wore a nice black dress with my new Aussie sandals. I have to say, I think I looked pretty good. I had a really nice time, and I even kept my wits about me. I talked to quite a few nice Scottish people, they guys were wearing kilts! I danced away, drank my wine, and met quite a few people. I wish we had these big parties more often. Afterwards a big group of us went to a bar in the casino, and went and gambled for awhile at the casino. I won $50! Don’t tell Grandma. Finally got home around 3:30 AM. Long night, but I had a great time. It’s so nice to fall asleep stone cold sober.
December 9
Another quick day. We spent more time doing Lean project with Vicent, everybody’s favorite Frenchie. It kind of makes sense, we’re reducing waste, and ‘everything in its place.’ We’re working on the workshop and tool rack area. Great stuff. All the homeless SLB employees have been invited to a co-worker’s gathering for Christmas, so at least I have something nice to look forward to. We’ll be enjoying some barbi, cricket, and if the wind is good, some windsurfing! It’s not the same as snow, but it’ll do. I went shopping after work today, I got some Aussie sandals. They’re going to be great for tomorrow’s Christmas party. Grocery shopping was as fun as usual. Delicious meal, some fun Christmas card writing, the night is done! Have a great weekend everybody.
December 8
Today we were instructed by our boss Zane to do Lean projects. Fun stuff. I spent most of today writing pin files, which help the operators electrically check the tools. Not the most fun, but at least it’s something that will make their job easier. I took the best jog/walk today. I went over to the river, and went upstream along the path. Past the Aussie Rules football stadium, and up to the next bridge. This place is just beautiful. I’ll definitely be exploring there again. I actually studied for awhile my work stuff when I was watching television. Made me feel pretty productive, and considering that my class is in less than 1 ½ months, I better get better at the topics I need to know. Thank goodness today is hump day, I can’t wait for the weekend!
December 7
I can’t quite remember everything that happened… It was Tuesday, it couldn’t have been too interesting. I know that I exercised, but that’s about it. Oh well!
